INTRO TO YOGA ANATOMY

Yoga is a balance between internal and external, ease and effort, as well as science and art. Having a basic understanding of the way the body moves and the layers of the body can help us better inform our practice and our teaching. “The term human anatomy comprises a consideration of the various structures which make up the human organism.” (theodora.com) The more knowledge we have here, the more artistic we can be in the expression of our scientific practice. The vinyasa practice combines breath with movement to produce heat that warms up our muscles, ligaments, etc… This practice also increases our range of motion in our joints. Learning how these muscles stretch and strengthen and how the joints move can also better help us understand safe movement and alignment fundamentals.
